At St Martins Preparatory School, we offer a high-quality education for children within a happy, challenging, supportive and caring environment. Our ethos encourages the children to have high aspirations and helps them confidently make the transition to senior school.

As well as helping children gain admission to the top state and grammar schools in the surrounding area, the academic life at St Martins encourages intellectual curiosity and effective learning habits - promoting enquiring minds which build on pupils’ strengths, interests and experiences so that every pupil is valued for the talents and beliefs they bring to the school. Our small class sizes of under 20, coupled with our dedicated teachers and enriching learning environment facilitate this and enable each child to reach their full potential.

As a ‘Prep’ School, one of our main purposes is to help prepare your child as much as possible for entry into senior school, including those schools which require your child to sit the Eleven Plus examination. As we are not linked to a senior school, we pride ourselves on being the only truly independent ‘Prep’ school in the local area. We are here to help you find the very best senior school for your child.

Primary School of The Year 2020

The Sunday Times has named St Martin’s Preparatory School as the Best Primary School in the United Kingdom, based on our Year Six SATs results. This exceptional result sees us eclipsing the UK’s ‘big named’ schools, a remarkable achievement, especially as we are a non-selective school with just under 160 pupils aged two to eleven years and keep school fees to well below half the national average.
